Inside BioVam Grown Chardonnay Grape Vines
At an Organic Vineyard, Winery and Organic Gardens

After you pass the
Leon
Millot Vineyard, a rustic wood gated entrance warmly
welcomes you into the main vineyard estate. The main compound
sets
in the middle distance and to the left. The main Vineyard sets off to the
right, bordered by the
beautiful Columbia River. Organic Gardens lines the
road 100 yards deep
on both sides of the road. This year their Organic Gardens were 100% BioVam® Grown
with excellent results.
When
BioVam® Mycorrhiza is applied
to the roots of 15 year old Chardonnay, Limberger and Siegrrebe grape
plants, as was done in May, 1999, what goes on inside the vines tells a story about what is going to
be happening on the outside of the plant.

The
vine cross sections above taken on 6-9-99, are from BioVam treated
Chardonnay grape plants. "A" represents a well-developed outer
layer of cells. "B" represents the phloem sieve tube, which
carries nutrients from the leaves into the plant. Higher numbers of larger
leaves on the BioVam treated plants are serviced by the larger sized
phloem sieve tubes. The fruit is also better supplied on the treated
plants and is larger and healthier as a result. "C" represents
the xylem tissue layer with the xylem vessels, which carry water and minerals
from the roots into the plant. These internal structures are significantly
larger in the treated plants than in the untreated plants. Larger fruit
and larger leaves require more water and minerals. All microscope pictures
are taken at the same setting of 200X.

The picture to the
right is a cross section of a vine taken on 6-9-99 from an untreated
Chardonnay grape plant. All of the structures easily fit on one picture
and are significantly smaller at this stage of growth, which is one month
after bud break.
